Wake - by Sally Anger in our show "At the Shore"
Upcoming Events at Carolina Creations
At the Shore Our new show depicts the waterways of Eastern North Carolina. We have paintings by Sally Anger, Sally Sutton, Donna Robertson, T Rader, Holly Brewster Jones and photographs by Zach Frailey. The show runs through August 30.
My work is created primarily of sterling, textured, and then inlaid with a vast array of found, new, and re-purposed materials; all of which are embedded in a matrix of black polymer.
I find inspiration in the natural world around me, and from the act of collecting. My desire to liberate these collections from the small glass jars in my studio drives me to create settings for these tiny objects.
Newly re-combined, these treasures can now be experienced in an entirely different context.
Whether these objects are pearls from a supplier, glass shards from a scrap box, or black sand from a remote beach in Iceland, they are set in silver and gold as respectfully as if they were precious gems, ready to shimmer anew.
" I grew up on the beaches of southern North Carolina, and after a few years in other places, I'm a lucky girl to be able to call North Carolina home again. My love of the sand and sea shines through in much of what I create. "
The Find Your Way Back gold necklaces are composed of gold filled or gold plated components (the lat/long disc is 1 8kt gold plated and everything else is 14kt gold filled) with freshwater pearls, charms and tiny Swarovski crystal accents.
The Find YourWay Back silver necklaces come on a 24" silver plated ball chain necklace with a blue glass charm and an ocean-themed pewter charm. The lat/long disc is silver plated., these pieces will help you find your way home to New Bern, Oriental, or Beaufort!
"Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth...then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can."
- Herman Melville
