October is designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

We have just received these wonderful "Shirley" vases. They are created by Lauren Burman and named in honor of her grandmother who was battling cancer.

Local ceramic artists handcraft every Little Shirley carefully. The company donates 10 percent of its profit from each purchase to organizations that work towards a cure for cancer or create awareness around it.

The handcrafted vases are only 4 inches tall by 2.5 inches wide. This makes them ideal for a small housewarming or birthday gift. When I spoke to one of the ceramic artists she told me that each vase is touched by several artists during its creative process.

We have so many friends and family that have been touched by cancer it is heartbreaking. Hopefully one day there will be a cure.
