As Usual

As usual when I have had a long dry spell from painting (this time from Christmas which for me lasts from September to the middle of January, going to shows, doing taxes, then at long last a vacation, then getting caught up from being gone) I have a dozen paintings in my head.

I am so excited to be able to paint that I have to get started on them all (well maybe not all but more than a couple) then slowly go back and finish them!

This week I started the Craven Street painting I posted the other day - watercolor on hotpress watercolor paper.

Then one of my favorite houses on Broad, watercolor on illustration board.

Almost finished

Tryon Palace, acrylic on canvas, this one is going to be painted in black and white.

Antique shop in Carrboro for my show there in May.

Outside the Weaver Street Market - mosaic statue of lady.  Acrylic on canvas.

Getting Caught Up

I promise I won't be posting every day! But since I didn't post much over the past month I'm trying to get caught up.

Here is the beginning of my next painting.

I'm probably best known for my long, landscapes of New Bern, this is my next one.

New work by award winning artist Pat Holscher

For more information follow this link.

I love Pat's work, the colors, the technique and the freshness. Pat is just one of the many regional artists we represent.

We feel fortunate that we are able to make our living, and to contribute to the living of the artists we represent, all doing something we all love.

How lucky can you get??

Janet Francoeur Art on New Bern Publication

We have advertised in the New Bern Visitors Guide since it began, ???? years ago.

I was honored to have a piece of my painting, Union Point, used on the cover. One reason they wanted to use this image is that it shows part of the convention center, where the visitors center is housed.

The visitors center has a great website, if you haven't seen it follow this link. I refer to it often.

March 2011 Newsletter and Slow Blogging

Our March newsletter is hot off the press (so to speak)!  If you don't get it in the email here is a link   March Carolina Creations Newsletter.

We've been gone more this year in a concentrated period of time than we've been gone in 20 years! Three shows, looking for fabulous new work for the gallery, then a much needed vacation to the Keys.

While gone I DID get a painting finished I started a couple years ago.

It seems I've spent a lot of time the past few years doing work for other organizations which has cut into my painting time (I think I talked about that in an earlier blog post). I've scheduled a show at the NC Crafts Gallery in May so need to get busy doing work for that, we have the home tour in April which I always like to have new work for as well as tiles of all the buildings on the tour.

I've just laid out a watercolor of Craven Street from Mitchell Hardware to the Courthouse, I'm anxious to get started on. I'll post the sketch and photos as that progresses. I'm rested up and excited to be painting!!
