It has been fun to see them filming for the new horror tv show Sleepy Hollow in New Bern. Yesterday we were surprised to see that the sign for Sleepy Hollow was a few short steps from our front door!!

2013 New Bern Christmas Ornament
Each year since 1996 I have been designing an ornament that depicts New Bern. They are collected by locals as well as tourists, given as gifts to visiting dignitaries and conference attendees, and as thank yous for various groups.
Once I get the idea, I sketch it out and send it to some friends in Rhode Island that make it come to life. They are 100 percent made in the USA of solid brass with a 24kt Gold finish. I also design a card that the ornament is packaged in so it can be easily sent through the mail.
Finished!

This year I depict the Skipjack Ada Mae which is moored at the base of Pollock Street in Downtown New Bern.

Sarena Mann Flying Ladies At Carolina Creations
We LOVE our Sarena Mann Flying Ladies!!
And always have a large selection of them.
We've heard so many wonderful stories about them - how they uplift peoples spirits - look just like their daughter, sister, mother, aunt, how their child watches the ladies move above their crib.
We've worked with Sarena for many years and are always thrilled when the next sculptures "fly" into Carolina Creations!

Elegant Sealife Pottery at Carolina Ceations
Shayne Greco has spent most of his adult life on the southern end of the
east coast. His artistic endeavors were supported by his mother and
honed by his teachers. “I was encouraged as a youth to express
creativity through many diverse mediums.
From paper mach'e fish while
summering on the east coast to pastel drawings of the winter sunrise
over the Colorado mountains, I was blessed to be exposed to so many
different forms of artistic expression.
Shayne attended the Savannah
College of Art and Design but insists his greatest inspirations were his
high school art teachers who let him experiment freely.
"I love combining functionality with sculpture. Whether it be at a dining room table with a group of dinner guests or on a coffee table holding fresh fruit, My art is designed to make a statement. They are conversation starters as well as great salad bowls!"

Evoluction Paper College by Lou Plummer through October 31
Carolina Creations Fine Art and Contemporary Craft Gallery at 317 Pollock St in Downtown New Bern, announces their featured artist for September and October, Lou Plummer.
The opening reception for her show, titled ‘Evolution’, will take place during ArtWalk on Friday, September 13 from 5 to 8 pm where you will get a chance to meet the artist.
Lou creates collage from papers hand made by her and others. Before working with paper Lou spent many years as a professional photographer but always longed to work with her hands. After attending a class at the John C Campbell School in Brasstown she found her calling. Claudia Lee has been her teacher and mentor ever since.
The paper Lou uses is created by first beating down fiber into pulp. The pulp can be used in its natural state or dyes added for color. The pulp is then drained through a screen (mould) and laid down. Water is removed by pressing and drying to make paper.
Lou has chosen to title her show ‘Evolution’ to show the progression from her first experiments with paper to her current expression through collage.
ArtWalk is held throughout Downtown New Bern every other month starting in January. The last ArtWalk of the year will be held November 8th with a Christmas Show celebrating Family and featuring Carolina Creations gallery artists.
