Welcome to John Nickerson and Bob Brotherton our newest potters. They specialize in highfired, wood fired salt glazed pots using Albany slip clay which is unique and give their pieces a special finish.
Brotherton became interested in clay work at his alma mater, Morris Harvey College, and went on to further study at Montgomery Technical College and Haywood Community College.
A few years ago Bob met glass blower John Nickerson, and they began to collaborate.
John received his MFA, from New York State College of Ceramics Alfred, NY, also attending The Society of Arts and Crafts, Detroit, MI, and The School for American Craftsmen: Rochester, NY.
He taught at Cleveland Institute of Art; Cleveland, Ohio, and Colorado State University; Fort Collins, Colorado, was the Designer in Residence Blenko Glass Company Blenko Glass Company, and spent thirty years as a self employed glass artist before returning to clay three years ago.
