Home from Philadelphia and Baltimore
We just got home from Philly and Baltimore where we connected with some of our gallery artists and met some wonderful new ones!
Always look forward to the food!
We loved Ly Michaels, asian fusion,at 101 N 11th St, but they've closed. However taking their place is Tazio, From 4-6:30 pm their happy hour is amazing. $3 tapas and $3 drinks. And the food was wonderful. 5 of us ate with 2 drinks each, for $78. And its right beside the Convention Center.
One of my favorite things in Philadelphia is the mosaic art by Isaiah Zagar. You can see a lot of it on South Street and at Philly Magic Gardens. One of our jewelry artists has a show there right now, Michal Golan.
We visited our friends gallery on Pine - SOTA.
Some great things we found in Philly and some nice artists we met.
Then off to Baltimore.
I've always wanted some of Sabra's work!
This is just a sampling of the great art we have coming in over the next few months.
It's been an exhausting month, 4 shows in 4 weeks.
Good to be home since I have a lot of work to do!

New York
Had a great time in New York and found some very cool things - can't wait til they come!
Just to name a few........
Wood ties!
Jellyfish chandelier
New Jewelry!!
an entire cake made of soap
Fleece jackets
Just to name a few........
I also finally got a chance to visit Bryant Park, we stay at the Hyatt, just 3 blocks away but have never taken the time to walk down there (after walking about 20 miles each day in the evening all I want to do is crash!) It was cold yet there were so many people sitting outside.
There was SO MUCH going on! The skating rink with hundreds of skaters, several restaurants, little shops. http://www.bryantpark.org/
I'll be sure to take the time to go down there in August again.

Day Two of Dan Nelson Workshop February 2012
Wow. February 2, 2012
8 seasoned painters.
We all had the same reaction to todays workshop with Dan.
We've all read books, gone to classes, developed our own styles through the years.
But we all heard from Dan a way to approach a painting that we had never heard before.
Painting with 2 hands, visual chaos, pull your painting out of the background, go around the color wheel for your under painting. How to build up your under painting.
We all said - come back and we'll paint with you again! Thanks so much Dan, we all learned a lot.

Workshop in our studio with Dan Nelson February 2012
Seven of us learned A LOT from Dan at day 1 of our workshop.
We moved way out of our comfort zone.
Making marks that are more interesting.
Drawing with our left hand, was exciting and the results were surprisingly good.
We did figure drawing, which I haven't really done since college 30 years ago.
Sketching with both hands at once.
Starting with a mess and watching your image come out of the chaos.

Rings by Shelli Kahl
Just in time for your Valentine!
Shelli Kahl is a talented silversmith whose designs continually delight her customers and cause happy addictions to her line of 'Shell-Bells'.
Working primarily in reticulated (torch-textured) sterling silver, Shelli creates jewelry with a unique look that steps away from that of traditional silver jewelry.
We are delighted to be representing Shelli at Carolina Creations.
Don't have your ring size? She'll make it and have it to us within the week! They are well priced too!
